New Designs Land at Foscarini Spazio Soho for NYCxDESIGN

07/05/2019

Foscarini presents eight new lighting concepts at Foscarini Spazio Soho, the brand’s flagship showroom in New York.

These new designs, which previewed in Milan for Euroluce, comprise eight unique concepts by designers Andrea Anastasio, Ferruccio Laviani, Marc Sadler, Illaria Marelli, Tord Boontje, and Ludovica + Roberto Palomba.

“Foscarini is a company that gathers, develops and activates multiple design ideas and creative contributions. We present the work of designers with whom we have collaborated for some time – including Marc Sadler, Andrea Anastasio, Ferruccio Laviani, Ludovica & Roberto Palomba – but also new projects, such as those with Ilaria Marelli and Tord Boontje,” says Carlo Urbinati, President of Foscarini.

The new lamps will be on view in special windows and interior displays created by frequent brand collaborator and architect Ferruccio Laviani, who also led the recent redesign of Foscarini Spazio Soho. The showroom, reopened in February 2019, was redesigned to showcase the brand universe from multiple perspectives, while preserving the space’s original details and architectural character. Foscarini’s product collection is spread across ten vignettes within the space, one of which will be dedicated to the 2019 introductions.

The product on display ranges from Sun – Light of Love, the suspension lamp by Tord Boontje, who with this project has managed to bring the sun into the home, to Belle de Jour, an impressive floor lamp in technical fabric by Ilaria Marelli; from Madre by Andrea Anastasio, an intimate object packed with different meanings and levels of interpretation. Two new designs by Ferruccio Laviani will be on view: the striking and “urbane” UpTown, and the “nomadic” Tobia floor lamp. Nuée is poetic design of remarkable visual impact, the result of lengthy research on the material, in a dramatic suspension lamp by Marc Sadler, while Ludovica & Roberto Palomba contribute the Palomar model, a rigorous floor lamp that offers two different lighting scenarios. Finally, Beep is a wall lamp that rotates by 360° on its base, for a service light offering great visual comfort.

Foscarini will also introduce MyLight, new lighting technology that enables customization, control, and smart home integration for a wide range of LED models in the Foscarini collection. MyLight is Foscarini’s response to a new design orientation that shifts the focus of design outward from the product itself, giving form and content to physical products, but also on the connection of different types of knowledge, from the technological to the humanistic sciences.
