An editorial initiative created and managed by Beppe Finessi, edited
by Corraini, promoted and supported by Foscarini.
Since 2010, Inventario has been a space for research and storytelling dedicated to the culture of design: an editorial project that weaves together disciplines, authors, and visions in a collective narrative, free from commercial constraints.
Inventario 19 unfolds as a journey through tools, works, and devices of artistic and design practice, bringing different approaches into dialogue through critical essays and visual narratives. The palette—also evoked on the cover—becomes a metaphor for an open approach to research and accompanies the contribution by Franco Toselli, who introduces the issue with an authorial perspective. Marta Elisa Cecchi presents the Exercise in Style of German conceptual artist Florian Slotawa and his work Garden Tools, a reflection on the ready-made and the potential of serial variation. Stefania Di Maria offers an in-depth exploration of the frame, interpreted as a threshold, an architectural element, and a field for experimentation, while Andrea Pinotti examines the work of Cecé Casile, who for more than forty years has designed and crafted frames in close dialogue with the works they contain, particularly photographs by masters such as Luigi Ghirri and Arno Hammacher.Chiara Fauda Pichet recalls the poetic project of the sugar cube Le Bateau Ivre, conceived by Enrico Azzimonti and Jordi Pigem. In the Absolutes section, Alessia Righi contributes a critical essay on Segno Croce by Armando Testa, paired with Mario Piazza’s text revisiting Armando Milani’s iconic peace posters. Michele Calzavara retraces the distinctive professional trajectory of the studio Diller Scofidio + Renfro, while Giulio Iacchetti narrates and illustrates a series of table clocks. Martina Costa gathers a sequence of Judicious Pairings centered on the sign X, and Damiano Gullì explores the expressive freedom of Nathalie Du Pasquier’s pictorial research.
Within the issue, photographs by Margherita Bonetti interpret the Tobia and Chapeaux lamps in an ethereal, highly evocative space, offering a suspended and poetic vision of the objects, in dialogue with the cultural framework of the editorial project.
