KARINA IN WUPPERTAL

Windows, games, future

“This is our first house. It is inside a historic building, a Fachwerkhaus. We like the bedroom under the roof, the window that looks out on a small playground. We see children in our future, a family, and perhaps a country home.”

We met shortly before the lockdown, in Berlin, at a club featuring techno music.

We decided very quickly to live together: in Wuppertal, where Claus was already residing. We went through the pandemic together, and we had just gotten acquainted: an adventure. We were almost without furniture, and we slept on a mattress on the floor. This is our first house, and we like it very much, also because it is inside a historic building, a Fachwerkhaus, a typical German half-timbered house. We like the bedroom under the roof, the window that looks out on a small playground. We see children in our future, a family, and perhaps a country home; to be able to have a small vegetable garden, a goat. In the meantime, we look at the past and transform it: I, Karina, make collages with old newspapers, it is exciting to give new life to things. A bit like buying used clothes and fixing them. Jackets or t-shirts for Claus, a golden skirt from the 1970s for me, inspired by Studio 54. To imagine the future, starting from the past.
