Tracing back through the old gestures of photography, I also find myself inside this very handmade project.

The spaces of Foscarini become a photography set; an 8×10 optical bench and Polaroid 8×10’’B&W instant film document the conclusion of a production cycle. The still life of the lamp, turned off, like a sculpture, reveals the material, documenting its refined workmanship. It is a game on equal footing, where the handwork of the photographer, who uses the optical bench, is mirrored by the skill of the worker.

Massimo Gardone

Massimo Gardone is a professional photographer who specialises in the creative interpretation of pictures, dividing his efforts between commercial and editorial projects and pure research. He has been involved in visual communication for some years, contaminating graphics, video and design, and he uses photography to model pictures, almost as though they were sounds. He has worked with leading Italian graphics experts and contributed to the communication of many prestigious brands. His contribution has been vital as photography director in videos of N+N Corsino as well as in the concept of videos of Infinity, for which he was given honourable mention in the Compasso d’Oro ADI 2011, and Inspire, both products for Foscarini. His works have been on display in collective and personal exhibitions in museums and galleries across Italy and abroad.
