Tartan is a type of wool fabric used to make Scottish kilts. Tartan is what inspired Ludovica and Roberto Palomba to create a further variation on the blown glass lamp theme. The acid-etching on the glass generates a feeling of textured softness that recalls the fabric.

In the Tartan suspension lamp, made by hand-blowing glass inside a mould with special incisions on it, the blown glass diffuser is supplemented with lines and folds, to generate a graphic game of lights and shadows.
